Bacterial blossom blight (Pseudomonas viridiflava), oak root fungus (Armillaria mellea), and Phytophthora affect kiwifruit growing in wet soils. Bleeding canker (Pseudomonas syringae) is a disease that is sometimes seen in cold winters (Gubler and Conn 1994). Additionally, fruit rot and fruit loss in postharvest storage occurs due to gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) most commonly and other minor fruit rotting organisms (Sommer et al 1994).
