The most common diseases of figs grown in California include:

Surface mold or Alternaria rot (Alternaria alternata)
Fig endosepsis, brown rot, internal rot, eye-end rot, pink rot or soft rot (Fusarium moniliforme, F. solani, or F. dimerum)
Fig mosaic virus (not yet characterized)

Apergillus rot (Aspergillus flavus or A. parasiticus)
Limb blight or dieback (Botrytis cinerea)
Smut (Aspergillus niger, A. japonicas, or A. carbonarius)
Sour rot (caused by several yeast species)
